Current Fellows

USA to UK |  Abby Cushing

Abby, the RHS Interchange Fellow for 2025/26, looks forward to expanding on her knowledge of the design and maintenance of public gardens, honing her skills in fine gardening, and exploring community-based programmes within these settings. With experience working in gardens in the US with varying climates, such as The Botanical Garden of Georgia, Longwood Gardens, and Wethersfield Estate and Garden, she also looks forward to experiencing gardening in the diverse climates of the UK.

UK to USA | Ben Middleton

Ben, the GCA Interchange Fellow for 2025/26, is looking forward to working at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, where he hopes to deepen his horticultural experience and work with a range of new and exciting plants. He is particularly interested in stepping out of his comfort zone and learning more about glasshouse growing, propagation and caring for Orchids. After completing a master’s degree in philosophy, Ben changed tack to become a gardener and was self-employed before pursuing his horticultural training with the Historic and Botanic Garden Training Programme and applying for the RHS/GCA Interchange Fellowship.
