Resources of the month

Take a pollinator count

Help track pollinator numbers by counting the insects visiting your plants. Spend 10 minutes watching a specific flower in your growing space, track the number of insects you saw on our downloadable recording sheet and then let us know what you found through a quick survey

Creating a hoverfly haven

Pupils at St Alban's Primary School in Hampshire have been constructing hoverfly lagoons as part of this year's Wild About Gardens campaign. They filled old containers with dried leaves, twigs and water, then popped them in a tray for the precious pollinators to find.

Book of the month

You don't need a lot of room to create a beautiful green space. RHS Miniature Garden Grower shows you how to create tiny gardens that bring big rewards. Divided into five styles, each one starts with background information on the style of the garden, snippets of simple plant science and easy-to-follow practical advice. These teeny-tiny gardens take very little time to plant and are a great option for summer holiday activities.
