Rhythm of the Dance

By Jade Loftus Floral Design

This design for Wentworth’s decadent ballroom is an exploration of movement, echoing the grandeur, rhythm, graceful curves and swirling gowns of a bygone era. The central ombré glass vase grounds the design and supports an upper cascading ‘sail’ via a contemporary binding technique known as the ‘vase claw’. The sail, constructed from wire, will house glass tubes filled with water. The ombré effect will be repeated in the floral placements with shades of aubergine, purple and mauve, fading into lilac and soft pinks.

Busy Bees, Happy Gardener

By Danial Spillane Floral Art

The design is based on the bumble bee and focuses on how beneficial they are within the garden, showcasing the best of both worlds, from the bee-friendly flowers to the structured design of the arrangement. The use of recycled elements, from the container to the structure of the design, will enhance how important it is to be eco-friendly within both the garden and within floristry. An array of flowers and foliage features alongside a hexagonal planter which replicates the bee’s honeycomb. The moss-covered poles represent miner bees who create tunnels and use moss to lay their legs within.

Moody Bloom

By Full Moon Flora

A tall dark, gothic-style urn with an arrangement of moody and contrasting lighter coloured blooms. Trailing plants cascade down the sides to create an elegant but haunting arrangement, using sustainable techniques and local seasonal flowers such as dark sedums, Lysimachia, sweet peas, clematis, Sanguisorba, poppy seed pods, strawflowers, Physocarpus, beech, French beans, cornflowers, Dianthus, ferns and dark mint.

Qu’est-ce que c’est?

By Side Farm Flowers

Homegrown British dried flowers are given their focal flower moment. The structure and colour of statice bracts (Limonium sinuatum) resemble the crystal structure of an amethyst geode and lend themselves to a 3D design.  A mix of dried flowers, twigs and grasses flow upwards and cascade downwards on either side of the geode to add interest and balance from all sides. Amethyst crystals are scattered amongst the miniature ferns and sustainably sourced moss, along with a handmade clay geode shell.

Black Diamond

By Floral Media

Diamonds are what you might expect at a ball, however the title ‘Black Diamonds’ is a link to the coal mining industry that Wentworth was built upon, and the book written by Catherine Bailey. The fluted urn is typically Georgian and in keeping with the times of the grand balls held on the estate. The design is based around the traditional garden style and uses British-grown, seasonal flowers. Camellia (tea plant) is used as the main foliage, linking to the historic tea house at Wentworth Woodhouse. All material used is grown in the designers’ gardens and flower fields in Nottinghamshire.

We are connected and supporting each other

By Ryoko Kanazawa

A unique flower arrangement inspired by the theme that humans live by supporting each other. It features flowers arranged to physically support one another, symbolising mutual connection and cooperation, while a round vase represents the Earth. The design incorporates traditional Japanese ikebana techniques, emphasising harmony, balance, and natural beauty. Instead of competition or conflict, the exhibit envisions a world where everyone helps each other harmoniously.

Whispers of the Ballroom

By The Blossom Room by Carol Peacock

Conceived to embody elegance, movement, and refined grace, the composition balances classical and contemporary elements, evoking the flowing lines of a dancer in mid-motion. A cascading trail of white Phalaenopsis orchids flows gracefully over the front and side of the design, their pristine petals and natural drape creating an immediate focal point and convey a sense of luxury. The palette has been deliberately chosen for a soft, harmonious effect that reflects understated elegance: cream and white for purity and sophistication, peach and blush for warmth and romance, hints of pale blue to cool and lighten the overall mood.

Wild Flower Soup

By North and Flower

A vintage soup terrine forms the base for wild seasonal florals to grow and cascade. The terrine connects the organic shapes of seasonal wildflowers to the surroundings of the historic ballroom. The arrangement is created using sustainable floristry techniques from local, seasonal flowers such as cosmos, coneflower, dahlias, roses, love-in-a-mist, ivy, larkspur, stocks, zinnias and phlox.

Garden Confection: A Floral Journey in Layers

By Acacia Creative Studio

Garden Confection is a piece that celebrates both nature and imagination. Rooted in the garden but inspired by artistry, it brings the outside in – transforming the Whistlejacket Room into a space where time, nature, and human creativity meet. It takes the form of a three-tiered floral cake, envisioned not as a traditional floral centrepiece, but as a living sculpture that seamlessly integrates with its refined surroundings.

Held in the Stillness

By Xue Wang - Acacia Creative Studio

Rooted in the stillness and grandeur of Wentworth Woodhouse, this sculptural floral installation responds to the house’s layered history, its quiet opulence, pauses in time, and sense of elegant reinvention. Emerging from a grounded base of sculptural branches, the piece rises upward and opens into a floating botanical wreath, echoing the circular motifs found in plasterwork and decorative ceilings throughout the estate â€“ especially within the Whistlejacket Room where it will be displayed.

Positive Spaces

By Orchis Floral Design

Deeply inspired by the Whistlejacket Room’s unique character, the primary influence is the exquisite, golden Georgian friezes that elegantly frame the room’s art. The composition will echo these organic, flowing forms, meticulously highlighting the natural, often ‘wonky’ contoured stems and graceful curves of each bloom, mirroring the sculptural quality of the friezes themselves. The designer was particularly drawn to the bold ‘positive space’ of George Stubbs’ â€˜Whistlejacket’ painting, where the magnificent horse commands attention without a distracting background.

Prosperity

By Plantology

An immersive structural design inspired by a chandelier willow structure to create a freestanding upright design, woven with seasonal flowers including Salix stems, dahlias, roses, Scabiosa, Lysimachia and delphiniums in a faded colour harmony to create a gentle thoughtful design.

The Presence of Whispers

By V.V Flowers

A sculptural floral installation created in response to the historic and emotive surroundings of the Whistlejacket Room. Inspired by the energy and elegance of George Stubbs’ iconic painting ‘Whistlejacket’, this piece captures the invisible movement – the flick of a mane, the rush of air, the tension before motion. A gilded frame echoes the opulence of the Georgian interior while creating a striking contrast with the light, airy floral forms that dance across it. The design is full of movement, featuring delicate stems and curved lines that seem to float and sway, suggesting whispers in motion – of wind, of spirit, of nature held still for a moment.

Whistlejacket’s Grove: Stubbs’ Horse in Bloom

By NORRIS Floristry

The installation will feature a man-made tree constructed entirely from botanical materials, set within a meadow of British-grown flowers inspired by the natural wild flora. The tree will serve as a sculptural centrepiece – an organic yet carefully crafted form that echoes the themes of growth, life, and natural beauty, while the surrounding floral meadow will evoke a sense of the English countryside in bloom. This concept is inspired by the Whistlejacket Room itself, which is dedicated to George Stubbs’ magnificent painting of the horse ‘Whistlejacket’.
